The short answer as of October 2026

Apple says Siri AI is not initially available in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS. Features that rely on Siri AI are also unavailable there at launch. This is Apple's stated rollout position, not a sign that a particular iPhone is broken. See its September 2026 Siri AI update.

Availability can change, so check Apple's current feature availability page before making a purchase or changing your setup solely for this feature.

Ordinary Siri, Apple Intelligence, and Siri AI are different

Ordinary Siri remains the voice assistant you can use for familiar requests such as timers and calls. Apple Intelligence is a wider group of AI features, with its own device, language, and regional requirements. Siri AI is the newer assistant Apple describes as conversational, aware of what is on screen, and able to use personal context and take more actions across apps.

Apple lists a broad set of languages for Apple Intelligence, including several European languages, while saying Siri AI itself starts in beta in English and is delayed on iPhone in the EU. A supported Apple Intelligence language does not, by itself, mean Siri AI is available. Apple's availability notes separate these conditions.

What to check on your own iPhone

  1. Identify the feature. Are you looking for ordinary Siri, an Apple Intelligence tool, or the new Siri AI behavior?
  2. Check your iPhone model and software. Apple Intelligence requires a supported device and current software; not every iPhone that can install iOS 27 supports every AI feature.
  3. Check the live region and language list. The EU rollout rule can matter even when your device and chosen language otherwise qualify.

Do not assume that changing a language or region setting removes a regional availability limit. Apple's official list is the reliable place to check.

What can you do while waiting?

Use the tools already available on your device for reminders, writing, and finding information. If you use Siri for a consequential task, verify the result in the original app. You can revisit Apple's availability page later; Apple has not promised a specific EU launch date in the cited update.
