Assign the built-in Screenshot action
Open Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap. Choose Double Tap or Triple Tap, then select Screenshot. Apple provides the current steps in its Back Tap guide. Test the gesture with your normal case attached.
Run a Shortcut instead of the basic action
Back Tap can also trigger a shortcut. Create or install the workflow you need, then choose it in the Shortcuts section of the Back Tap menu. Apple explains the setup in its Shortcuts guide.
Choose the gesture with fewer false triggers
If Double Tap activates accidentally, try Triple Tap. Tap firmly but naturally around the upper-middle back of the phone. Thick or unusual cases can affect recognition, so test before relying on the gesture.
Capture and label in one workflow
Tagshot includes a Save & Label Screenshot action for Shortcuts. Combine it with Take Screenshot, then assign that shortcut to Back Tap so a new capture can be saved and categorized on device.
Common questions
Which iPhones support Back Tap?
Apple documents Back Tap for supported modern iPhones and current iOS versions. Check the setting under Accessibility → Touch; availability can depend on hardware and software.
Why does Back Tap trigger accidentally?
Double Tap can be sensitive to handling or placing the phone down. Try Triple Tap, change the action, or set the gesture to None when you do not need it.
Can Back Tap run any shortcut?
It can run shortcuts listed in the Back Tap settings. Test the complete workflow and review any permissions the shortcut requests.
