Understand the 30-day recovery window
Deleted photos and videos normally remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Apple explains how to recover or permanently delete them in its Photos guide. The album is part of the same photo library, not a separate backup.
Scan for accidental deletions
Unlock the album and review faces, documents, long videos, and event photos. Recover anything uncertain. If the batch is large, inspect it over more than one session instead of using Delete All simply because storage is low.
Verify important copies outside the library
Open exported photos and play videos from the destination you trust. Another device using the same iCloud Photos library is not automatically an independent copy because deletions can synchronize.
Permanently delete only the verified batch
Select the confirmed items and use permanent deletion. Afterward, allow time for iPhone Storage to recalculate. For future cleanup, Swyper provides a cleanup-bin review before the first deletion step, reducing avoidable mistakes.
Common questions
Can permanently deleted iPhone photos be recovered?
The normal Recently Deleted recovery path is gone after permanent deletion. Recovery may depend on an independent backup that existed beforehand.
Does emptying Recently Deleted affect iCloud?
With iCloud Photos, the library and deletion state synchronize across connected devices. Review the impact before acting.
Will storage free immediately?
It may take time for files, indexes, caches, and the storage display to update. Connect to power and check again later.
